Fettered in the Shackles of the Drug

Fettered, Indeed. This is a strange, very strange scent. Heady, headachy and intoxicating. I don’t have a sophisticated nose, and to me, there’s a kind of violet baby powder about this. But something more…something spiced. Something…drugged. More than a masking patchouli.

This is part of the Ligeia series, and is genuinely is a grower. Not in terms of its staying power; though it stays longer than some, at least as a skin clinger. What I mean is, as soon as I put it on, it gets under my skin and in my nose and in my head and I am gone. Here there is more than baby powder and sweets. Here there are opiates and diamonds, befuddlement and clarity. It starts out as properly sinister. I’m sad that it dissipates into something less…but at least it had that start, and the chance to sink into something other.
